Medal of Honor Exhibit at National Archive Concludes on a High Note.

In honor of the 150th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln signing the legislation establishing the Medal of Honor in 1861, the National Archives established an exhibit just a few steps from our nation’s most historic documents…the original Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. The exhibit opened on Veterans Day 2011 and was seen by thousands of visitors who came to the Archives. The exhibit included a Civil War Medal of Honor and the stories of two Civil War recipients. The exhibit, which was on display for more than two months, concluded with a Medal of Honor discussion panel with recipients Bob Foley and Barney Barnum followed by a book signing.

Six Celebrate Our Freedom Billboards were erected in the greater Los Angeles area, reminding us of the Freedom we enjoy as Americans. These billboards contrast sharply with the typical billboards one sees driving through the city, alerting us to the next fast food and inexpensive motel. Celebrate Our Freedom Billboard

The Medal of Honor Grove Rejuvenated. The Medal of Honor Grove at Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge has fallen into disrepair in recent years. At the initiative of Pennsylvania State Senator Andy Dinniman, supported by Foundation board member, Wally Nunn, more than 1,000 volunteers came out over a period of several days to clean up The Grove and worked to ensure it would be maintained in perpetuity. Medal of Honor recipients Joe Marm, Sammy Davis and Jim Livingston pitched in to help and to thank the volunteers for their time and efforts.
