Leyte Gulf Sailors Receive Training, Honor History’s Heroes
The guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) crew began honoring the past and training for the future Feb. 3, as the ship prepares to enter the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. Leyte Gulf is putting specific emphasis on the core value of Honor during training by highlighting the accomplishments of different Medal of Honor recipients each week. The “Heroes in History” project consists of the ship airing 10-minute video productions of honorees and their stories, along with oral presentations. It is the command’s hope that these presentations will educate Sailors on the struggles and accomplishments of the service members who have come before them. Click here to read more.
