Ford’s Theater Celebrates July 4th
This year’s pre-taped 4th of July program from Ford’s Theater in Washington, DC aired nationally on ABC in prime time on July 2. The highlight and climax of the star-studded program was the unannounced Medal of Honor segment just before the finalé. The stories of Medal of Honor recipients, Walt Ehlers, Hershey Miyamura, Richard Pittman, Al Rascon and Mike Thornton, were narrated by Colin Powell and followed by a rousing standing ovation and snappy exchange of salutes between the recipients and the President of the United States.
Stars and Stripes Heroes
For the sixth consecutive year, the Boeing Company, with the Medal of Honor Foundation as a partner, sponsored the Stars and Stripes Heroes supplement with a distribution of more than 1.6 million. This edition of Heroes includes the story of posthumous Medal of Honor recipient, Jared Monti, and a tribute from the living Medal of Honor recipients to the men and women who serve today with the same spirit of courage and sacrifice as those of previous generations. It also includes an essay by noted author, Peter Collier, titled Heroes Still.
