On February 26, 2011, more than half of the 85 living Medal of Honor recipients gathered at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California with approximately 750 invited guests for the fourth annual Celebration of Freedom gala.
Co-hosts for the evening were Mr. David McIntyre, President & CEO of TriWest Healthcare Alliance and a Foundation board member, actor, entertainer of U.S. troops and Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner, Mr. Gary Sinise and businessman, Mr. Bruce Brereton.
In addition to a tribute to America’s Medal of Honor recipients and what they represent, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Foundation honored several deserving Americans that have had a profound impact on our country.

Receiving the Patriot Award for his patriotism and service to our country is Jack H. Brown, navy combat veteran, noted philanthropist and CEO of Stater Brothers. The award was presented by Medal of Honor recipient, Jim Taylor to Mr. Brown for his patriotism and distinguished service to our country with Co-Host Bruce Brereton assisting.
General James F. Amos, 35th Commandent of the Marine Corps recognized former US Secretary of State, the Honorable George P. Shultz whose contributions have made an extraordinary difference in the lives of all Americans and has served to protect the best interests of our nation. Medal of Honor recipient, Bob Modrezejewski presented the Distinguished Citizen Award to Mr. Shultz.
Actress Connie Stevens received The Bob Hope Excellence in Entertainment Award from Medal of Honor recipient, Richard Pittman with Gary Sinise assisting. Connie Stevens toured with the USO and entertained the troops for more than 30 years.
An additional Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment was presented to Ann-Margret by Medal of Honor recipient Kenneth Stumpf for her lifetime service to the USO and those who serve our country.
